O. J. Simpson

Orenthal James Simpson (born July 9, 1947 in San Francisco, California), publicly known by the initials O.J., and nicknamed The Juice, was a Hall of Fame former college and professional football player and film actor. Simpson is perhaps now most famous for allegedly killing his wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ronald Goldman in 1994. He was acquitted in criminal court in 1995 after a lengthy and highly publicized trial.

OJ Did It mania

From the arrest of OJ Simpson to the late 90's 'OJ Did It' was a well known phrase over the internet and slipped subtly into numerous media. As the early 1990's marked the dawning of mass public access to the internet it facilitated the spread of peoples opinions, 'OJ Did It' was one of the first and most public screams to be put forth.

From computer games (Doom mods, online RPG's, et cetera) to illegally pirated software (OJ Did It tucked away in splash screens, txt files and the OJ Did It Cracker Crew), the proliferation of mainstream society taking every opportunity to have a jab at OJ's not guilty verdict was quite a fad.

To this day one can still find quips all over the internet, a simple search for the term 'OJ Did It' will bring up results varying between 1,880,000 and 2,630,000 websites on the topic, or with those words tucked away in the text somewhere.
