Nottingham City is Divided into three parliamentary Constituencies, Nottingham North , East and South. With the three principle boroughs

being divided into Broxtowe , Gedling and Rushcliffe. Each of these Constituencies returns a member of parliament every four years.

Prior to the Labour landslide of 1997 all three of the suburban constituencies were held by the Conservatives. The status quo being maintained in 2001 and 2005 however all with reduced majorities.
