The winner of this years season will enter the second round of next years Champions League qualification, while number 2, 3 and the cup winner enter the UEFA Cup qualification round. The top four teams qualify for Royal League.

The greatest surprises of the 2005 season so far is the performance of I.K. Start which was promoted to the Premier League in the 2004 season, and the disappointing performance of Rosenborg B.K. which is fighting against relegation after having won the Premier League for 13 straight seasons.

In beginning of October, with still three rounds left, it was reported that more than 1.5 million had attended the 161 matches in the Premier League http://fotball.aftenposten.no/nyhetsarkiv/article.jhtml?articleID=86916. Statistically, the final figure will be approx. 1.7–1.8 million, which is 300,000 more than the previous year. It is also twice as much as in 1995, when only 841,717 attended the matches during the whole season.
