• North and South is a novel by Elizabeth Gaskell, first published in 1854.
• A BBC TV adaptation of Gaskell's novel, starring Richard Armitage (actor) and Daniela Denby-Ashe, was broadcast in 2004.
• An American TV miniseries with the title North and South, unrelated to the Gaskell novel, was broadcast by ABC TV. This 1985 miniseries and its 1986 sequel North and South II focused on the lives of two friends caught up in the American Civil War.
• North and South is the name of a classic strategy title focusing on the American Civil War for the Amiga. It was also released for DOS, the NES, the Atari ST, and the Commodore 64.
