Nikolskoye

Nikolskoye is a village on Bering Island in the Komandorski Islands, east of Russia.

Nikolskoye was founded in 1826 by Aleut (Unangan) settlers from Atka Island in the Aleutian Islands. They engaged in whaling and sealing with harpoons and spears. Fishing and hunting of whales and other marine mammals is still the mainstay of the economy there.
