Nikhil Bannerjee

Pt Nikhil Banerjee, was born into a musical family in 1931. He was a child prodigy. He received musical training from Ustad Allauddin Khan and later from his son Ustad Ali Akbar Khan and daughter Annapurna Devi.

Pt Banerjee served as faculty at Ali Akbar College of Music and played with Ali Akbar Khan in hundreds of duets. Pt Banerjee gave numerous concerts in India, North America and Europe. Pt Banerjee died young at the age of 54 in 1986. He will always be remembered for the sincerity with which he gave expression to all the ragas he played.
