Nicole Brown Simpson
Nicole Brown Simpson (May 19, 1959 – June 12, 1994) was murdered at her home in Los Angeles, California. Her murder (along with the murder of fellow victim and friend Ronald Goldman on that same night) was notable because Simpson was the ex-wife of American football player O. J. Simpson. O.J. Simpson was criminally indicted for the Nicole and Goldman murders, tried and acquitted in a highly controversial verdict. In a subsequent civil trial, he was found financially liable for their deaths and ordered to pay 12.5 million dollars to the Brown family and 12.5 million dollars to the Goldman family. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Nicole is the daughter of Juditha and Louis Brown and grew up in Dana Point, California. The Browns originally lived in Germany, and Nicole and her older sister Denise were born there. Nicole also had two younger sisters, Dominique and Tanya. Nicole was elected Homecoming Queen of Dana Hills High School. She met her future husband, O.J. Simpson, shortly after graduating high school, at a night club at which she worked as a waitress. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ The cases exposed O.J.'s history of domestic violence, as the jury heard several recordings of calls Nicole made to 9-1-1 while married to Simpson. The jury also heard testimony from Nicole's sister, Denise Brown, about the abuse O.J. inflicted upon her late sister during and after their marriage. On New Year's Day, 1989, police were called to the couple's home at 360 North Rockingham Avenue and found a bruised and bloody Nicole. O.J. Simpson ultimately pleaded no contest to spousal battery charges arising from that incident. Photos of her injuries, which she had kept in a safe deposit box as proof of O.J.'s violence against her, were shown at both the criminal and civil trials. A similar incident occurred in 1993, when Nicole frantically called 9-1-1 to report that O.J. was in her home and begged for police to come to the house. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ O.J. Simpson said that the 1989 incident was the only time that he and Nicole got into a fight that injured her. He said that Nicole used makeup in one of the photos showing her with facial bruises after the fight. He said Nicole's written statements of domestic abuse were a plan to get out of a prenuptial agreement. Nicole had also confided in her diary and to friends that she feared O.J. would kill her and get away with it because of his celebrity. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ William Wasz said he sold cocaine to Nicole, and that she used it herself. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Faye Resnick, Nicole's best friend, said that Nicole had been with some men after her divorce, including Marcus Allen. Another account says she had slept with the owner of the Mezzaluna, the resteraunt Ron Goldman was a waiter at. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ In 1994, Denise Brown established The Nicole Brown Charitable Foundation in Nicole's memory, to assist victims of domestic violence. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Nicole is survived by her two children with Simpson, a daughter, Sidney (born October 17, 1985), and a son, Justin (born August 6, 1988). At the time of the murders, Sidney, then age 8, and Justin, then age 5, were asleep inside the 875 South Bundy Drive condo. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
