Nicky Hayden, also known as "The Kentucky Kid", has been racing motorcycles most of his life. He was racing a factory Honda RC45 Superbike while still in high school at age 17. Nicky ended his first year in MotoGP (2003) 5th place in points, more than enough to take Rookie of the Year honors.
