Nick Webb
Nick Webb (born 1959) is a publisher and author. He approached Douglas Adams and John Lloyd in 1978, to commission the two of them for a novelization of the first radio series of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy for Pan Books in London. The book eventually was written solely by Adams, after a brief dispute with Lloyd, and was published in 1979. After the successful launch of the first Hitchhiker's novel, Webb left Pan, and, according to Neil Gaiman (in the book Don't Panic), "embark on a game of musical publishers that would take him , in traditional publishing fashion, around most major British paperback publishers." ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
