Nick Van Exel
Nickey Maxwell Van Exel (born November 27 1971 in Kenosha, Wisconsin) is a professional basketball player currently with the San Antonio Spurs in the NBA.

Van Exel has previously played for the Portland Trail Blazers, Golden State Warriors, Dallas Mavericks, Denver Nuggets and Los Angeles Lakers. In late August 2005, he signed as a free agent with the Spurs. He was drafted by Los Angeles in the second round of the 1993 NBA Draft out of the University of Cincinnati.

Van Exel is a shoot-first-pass-second point guard who is a three-point-specialist. His defense is poor, but he has more than once decided games by hitting clutch baskets.

His free-throw technique is somewhat unusual in that he stands, not on the free-throw line, but a good two feet behind it. It is effective however, as he has shot 79.6 percent from the line in his career.
