Niazi

Niazi is a famous Pashtun/Afghan tribe who now live mainly in Mianwali and in the province of Punjab, as well as in parts of Afghanistan, and the N.W.F.P of Pakistan.

Most Niazis speak the Siraiki language rather than their ancestral Pushto but nevertheless strictly observe Pashtunwali, the Pashtun code of honor. In Afghanistan, a few nomadic groups also hail from the Niazi tribe and speak Pashto.

Some very educated scholars and poets, such as Muneer Niazi,Dr Ajmal Niazi, Ehsan Kaleem Niazi and Maulana Kauser Niazi(Ex minister of PPP govt)who have narrated their thoughts in the shape of poetry in urdu and saraiki language. Sohna Khan Baywas, Ejaz Tishna, Farooq Rokhery and Mazher Niazi are currently into saraiki poetry.

The Rokhris became famous due to Amir Abdullah Khan Rokhri, who was one of Pakistan's well known and influential politicians. The Rokhris still remain one of the powerful Pathan tribes, controlling the politics of Mianwali in Punjab.
