Newsquest is the second largest publisher of regional and local newspapers in the United Kingdom. Newsquest publish over 300 newspapers, including the Argus (Brighton), Basingstoke Gazette, Evening Press (York), Evening Times (Glasgow), Hampshire Chronicle, The Herald (Glasgow), Northern Echo (Darlington), Oxford Mail, Southern Daily Echo (Southampton) and the Worcester Journal. Newsquest was formed in 1995, from the buyout of Reed Regional Newspapers. It has now been acquired by the Gannett corporation, who bought the publishers in 1999. Newsquest are based in Weybridge, Surrey and employs a total of more than 9,100 people accross the UK.
