Newport is a city located in Jackson County, Arkansas. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 7,811. The city is the county seat of Jackson County{{GR|6}}.

Newport is located at 35°36'43" North, 91°15'44" West (35.611820, -91.262158){{GR|1}}. Newport lies on the White River.
