New York Jets

The New York Jets are a National Football League team that plays its home games in East Rutherford, New Jersey, but whose offices and training facilities are located in Hempstead, NY on Long Island. The team was founded in 1960 as a charter member of the American Football League and joined the NFL as part of the AFL-NFL Merger.

The NYSCC West Side Stadium project in NYC was expected to be the home of the Jets by 2010 if built. However, the project suffered a setback when the New York legislature rejected to give it $300 million in public funds. The team is also being courted by its current landlord, the New Jersey Sports and Exhibition Authority (NJSEA), to remain in the Meadowlands as part of plans to construct a new Giants Stadium.
