Nawaz Sharif
Nawaz Sharif (born December 25, 1949) was twice elected as Prime Minister of Pakistan, serving two non-consecutive terms. His first term was from November 1, 1990 to July 18, 1993, and his second term was from February 17, 1997 to October 12, 1999. His party is the Pakistan Muslim League N (Nawaz group).
Recent events
President General Pervez Musharraf on May 11, 2005 declared that exiled political leaders, including Benazir Bhutto and Nawaz Sharif, would not be allowed to come back or participate in the general elections scheduled for 2007. Musharraf will seek another 5-year term as head of state after his current tenure ends in 2007, the country's Information Minister Sheikh Rashid recently informed the presses.Currently Sharif is battling to obtain a Pakistani Passport from Pakistan Embassy in Saudi Arabia.
