Naum Gabo
Naum Gabo (born Naum Pevsner August 5, 1890 - August 23, 1977) was a prominent sculptor in the Constructivism movement in Russia. He focused on the perfection of order and experimented with many different techniques. He changed his name to avoid confusion with his brother, Antoine Pevsner. In 1946 he moved to the United States, settling in the New England area to teach.

Naum abondoned a medical career. Met Kandinsky in 1910 - 1913 - 1914. Later he met a Cuban painter in Paris, along with many others. In 1915 he constructed his first peice under the name of Gabo.

Moved back to Russia in 1917, to become involved in politics and art. But late had to leave Russia after him and his brother issued their 'Realistic Manifesto', which was strongly against Talin. He was therefore forced to move to Berlin, and lived there from 1922 - 1932, where he lecutured at Bauhaus in 1928 befoe moving to Cornwall, England for 7 years, whaere amongst others, he met Hepworth, Nicholson and Layon.

He moved to America, in 1946; settled in New England to teach. He gained citizenship in 1952. Naum Gabo died at the age of 87 in 1977 in Conneticut.
