Native Tongues Posse
The Native Tongues Posse is a group of late 1980s and early 1990s black nationalist hip hop artists known for their positive Afrocentric lyrics and jazzy beats. They were inspired by earlier, similar rappers, especially Afrika Bambaataa, and came together in order to cooperate on each other's projects and help bring socially-conscious hip hop to the mainstream. The founding members were the Jungle Brothers, Queen Latifah and Bambaataa himself.
