National Water Carrier
Completed in 1964 under Prime Minister Levi Eshkol, the National Water Carrier (in Hebrew commonly called ?????? ????? HaMovil Ha'Artzi) connects the Sea of Galilee with Israel's water system. The original goal of building the carrier was to provide irrigation water to the Negev region. Today 80% of the water drawn from the lake is utilized for Israel's domestic consumption.

In 1996, under the Israel-Jordan Treaty of Peace, Israel agreed to supply Jordan with 50 MCM of water annually. http://domino.un.org/UNISPAL.NSF/0/1759b55472ee398b852562d7006b014a?OpenDocument
