National Hunt racing
National Hunt racing (also known as as jump racing) is horse racing over obstacles called hurdles or fences . It is less glamorous than its counterpart flat racing and in the United Kingdom formerly took place between October and April; however, in recent years it takes place for a whole year, with the season beginning (and ending) in April.

The home of National Hunt Racing in the UK is Cheltenham, where the Gold Cup is held annually in March.
