National Football League
The National Football League (NFL) is the largest professional American football league, consisting of thirty-two teams from American cities. The league was formed in 1920 as the American Professional Football Association, which adopted the name "National Football League" in 1922. The NFL is one of the major professional sports leagues of North America.
Video games
NFL and EA Sports partner up to produce a video game based on the league on PC and various game consoles approximately every year, called Madden NFL, being named after football commentator John Madden. (See Madden NFL series for a detailed description of each.) There is also a Street version of the game (see NFL Street series for more information).

Competitors of the Madden NFL series included ESPN NFL Football and NFL Blitz, However, in December 2004, EA signed an exclusive agreement with the NFL, meaning the Madden series would be the only franchise allowed to use NFL team and player names
