National Awakening Party
The National Awakening Party (Indonesian: Partai Kebangkitan Bangsa, or PKB) is the third-largest political party in Indonesia. It is led by Alwi Abdurrahman Shihab.

Abdurrahman Wahid, founder of the PKB, was President of Indonesia from October 1999 to July 2001. The party received a 10.6% share of the vote in the 2004 Legislative Election.

The party's base of support is strongest in rural areas of Java, and draws from the constituency that formerly supported the conservative Muslim organization Nahdlatul Ulama. PKB differs substantially from Nahdlatul Ulama, though, in that while it supports a role for Islam in government, it does not share the older organization's support for an explicitly Islamic republic.{{ref|evans2003}}
