Nasrat Parsa began his music career at a young age. According to Parsa's personal account, he was first discovered after singing the songs of Ahmad Zahir on a national radio broadcast. After Zahir heard the renditions of his songs, he got in touch with Parsa. In one of the great honors of Parsa's life, Zahir invited Parsa to his home to sing with him.

At the age of 7, Pasra had the opportunity to sing on a national game show. At the age of 12, Pasra and his family moved to Delhi, India. Pasra attended the school of music where he was taught by the legendary Indian Class singer Daish Pandi. While in Delhi, Pasra also had the opportunity to train with Ostood Monawar Ali Khan.

Nasrat Pasra started his international career when he was introduced to Ghulam Ali Khan after a concert in Germany. He soon became an icon to many young Afghans. During his career, he released many albums and toured all over the world. Some of his releases included: Darga (Spring 1992), Donya (Winter 1995), Gohar (Summer 1996), Saya (Summer 1997), Negah (Summer 1998), Live in Germany (Spring 2000), Hindi Songs (Spring 2002), Naaz (January 2004).

While on tour in Vancouver, Canada to promote his latest CD, Nasrat Parsa was accosted by a young man who struck the singer causing him to fall down a set of stairs and sustain severe injuries to his head. Pasra was pronounced dead at a Vancouver hospital. After Pasra's passing, a 19 year old man was charged with manslaughter.
