Naarden


 
 

(population: 17,031 in 2004) is a city in the north-western Netherlands, in the province of North Holland. The municipality covers an area of 32.89 km² (of which 11.51 km² water).

It received city rights in 1255. The city is fortified with walls and a moat. Both are complete and in a very good state, which is unusual.
