Myril Hoag


 
 

Myril Hoag (March 9 1908 - July 28 1971) was a major league outfielder for the New York Yankees, along with a few other teams. He played from April 15 1931 until September 16 1945. He batted and threw right-handed. Hoag was born in Davis, California.

He had a lifetime batting average of .271 with 28 home runs and 401 RBI's. In 1939 he made the American League All-star team with the St. Louis Browns. That year, he batted .295 with 75 RBI's and 202 total bases. He came in 31st in the MVP voting, Joe DiMaggio coming in 1st.

He was 5th in the league in stolen bases in 1942 with the Chicago White Sox. He finished his career with 59 stolen bases, an average of 9 a year.

He ended his career with 854 hits in 3147 at bats.

He died in High Springs, Florida at the age of 63.
