My Living Doll
My Living Doll was an American comedy television series that aired for 26 episodes from September 27, 1964 to September 8, 1965. The series starred Bob Cummings as Dr. Bob McDonald, a scientist who creates Rhoda, a life-like android (played by Julie Newmar) in the form of a sexy, amazonian female. Although the series would have been branded sexist today, My Living Doll was relatively popular during its short run, but Cummings and Newmar reportedly didn't get along, with Cummings actually quitting the show near the end. The series was cancelled due to low ratings, and the negatives of the episodes were subsequently destroyed. Today, only a couple of off-air recordings of the show are known to survive, which is a disappointment to the legions of fans Newmar made with her next major role, that of Catwoman in Batman.
