Multi-instrumentalist
A Multi-instrumentalist is a musician who plays multiple instruments (not necessarily at the same time). Multi-instrumentalists are most common in jazz and progressive rock as well as in other types of music. The Bachelor of Music degree often requires multiple instruments to be learned.

While there are many multi-instrumentalists, most of them concentrate on just one instrument. The majority of multi-instrumentalists in rock and pop music count either piano or guitar as their 'main instrument'

There is an increasing tendency, particularly amongst solo electronic/ambient musicians, to play everything themselves. A very incomplete list of multi-instrumentalists is below, but as the definition is so flexible, and can extend to musicians within bands who double-up on other instruments, listed are only solo artists who are more known as multi-instrumentalists than for playing a single instrument.
