Moulay Rachid


 
 

His Royal Highness Prince Moulay Rachid of Morocco, aka HRH Prince Moulay Rachid ben al-Hassan was born on June 20, 1970 in Rabat as the youngest son of late King Hassan II. He is second in line to the Alaouite throne, after his nephew, Crown Prince Moulay Hassan.

After primary and secondary studies in the Royal College in Rabat and obtaining of the Baccalaur?at in June 1989, His Royal Highness entered into Mohammed V University in Rabat, where he continued Higher Studies in Law.

In May 1993, Prince Moulay Rachid obtained his Law degree (Licence en les droits), scoring "very well", along with a Masters in Public Law, simultaneously with the Diploma in Law; his thesis was on the Bosnia question, which he presented on June 29, 1995.

In order to complete his training, in November 1993 he underwent a United Nations training course in New York, within the framework of the preparation for a Doctorate in Law.

In July 1994, Prince Moulay Rachid is promoted with the rank of Colonel of the Royal Moroccan Navy.

On May 18, 2001, His Royal Highness presented his doctorate thesis on the Organization of Islamic Conference at the Universit? Montesquieu-Bordeaux IV, which merited a specific mention for the quality of his work.

In July 2000, HRH Prince Moulay Rachid was promoted to the rank of brigadier general.

Since youth, Prince Moulay Rachid has been interested in cultural, social and sporting activities. For this reason, since April 1997, he has been president of the National Federation of Moroccan Scouting. He is also a president of the Moroccan Royal Federation of Hunting and chairs the Marrakech International Film Festival Foundation.

HRH Prince Moulay Rachid has one brother H.M. King Mohammed VI and three sisters Princess Lalla Meryem, Princess Lalla Asma and Princess Lalla Hasna.
