Mothra
Mothra (モスラ - Mosura) is one of the Toho Company's kaiju, a large monster that attacks Japan in their series of fantasy monster movies. She first appeared in the film Mothra (Mosura), which appeared in 1961. The name Mothra is made by combining Moth and -ra, but as the Japanese language does not contain a "th" phoneme, it is pronunced Mosura in Japan.

In the original movie, Mothra has as allies two tiny women who are twin fairies (played by the Peanuts). These two women, no more than a foot tall, are able to communicate with Mothra to some extent and can pacify the monster by singing a song, the most well-known version of which is actually in Malaysian. In later movies they may be depicted differently; in Rebirth of Mothra they are not twins, and in they are two normal-sized women who appear only in a brief cameo. Mothra has several combat abilities. Apart from the obvious power of flight, Mothra is able to fire a fusillade of enormous stingers from her tail (as portrayed in GMK). In Larval form, Mothra is equipped with entangling cocoon spray that can immobilize an opponent. In addition, Mothra's lifecycle (egg, larva, cocoon, moth, death) is often emphasized in Mothra movies, thereby suggesting a resurrection or reincanation power similar in effect to Godzilla's ability to regenerate.
