Mother Love Bone


 

Mother Love Bone, was established in 1989 in the Seattle area by ex-Green River members Stone Gossard, Jeff Ament and Bruce Fairweather. Their unique fusion of glam and punk rock music became the prototype for what is now known as grunge, which enjoyed enormous success during the early 1990s.

Along with such prominent bands as Soundgarden, The Melvins, Alice In Chains and Nirvana, Mother Love Bone became part of what came to be known as the "Seattle Sound" in the late '80s.

Unfortunately, lead singer Andrew Wood died of a heroin overdose in 1990, weeks before the release of Apple. After his death, members Stone Gossard and Jeff Ament went on to form Pearl Jam and Temple of the Dog.
