Montour Falls, New York
Montour Falls is a village located in Schuyler County, New York, USA. As of the 2000 census, the village had a total population of 1,797. A waterfall in the village gives the village its name. The name "Montour" is derived from Catherine Montour.
History
The village was previously known as "Queanettquaga," "Catharine's Town," and finally "Havana" by 1788. It was also a past county seat of Schuyler County. The current name was adopted in 1790. The village was located on the former Chemung Canal and was incorporated in 1836.
