Mohammed Abacha


 

Mohammed Abacha is the son of Nigeria's former military dictator, the late Gen. Sani Abacha. He is bellieved to be the head of the Abacha Clan currently. He was arrested and charged with the murder and attempted murder of Alhaja Kudirat Abiola (wife of MKO Abiola) and Mr. Ibru (Head of Guardian Newspaper - an opposition newspaper) respectively. Mohammed was released by President Obasanjo after an agreement was reached between the government and the Abacha family that they would hand over funds that they stole from the National Treasury with the exception of $100 Million in bonds. As soon as Mohammed stepped out of jail, he denied agreeing to such a deal and has not handed over any money since then. His brother is currently being held for money laudering in Europe.
