Model village
Model villages were a classification of social/industrial developments created in the UK during the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. They were built by philanthropist developers such as Titus Salt and George Cadbury to house their workers as well as providing them with social amenities.

Famous model villages include Ackroyden, Bournville, New Earswick, New Lanark, Portlaw, Port Sunlight, Saltaire, Stewartby and Woodlands.

The term model village can also refer to miniature villages created as tourist attractions, such as those at Godshill on the Isle of Wight and Merrivale in Great Yarmouth.
