Modafinil
Modafinil (Provigil®; Vigicer®; Alertec®) is a drug produced by the pharmaceutical company Cephalon. It is marketed as a 'wakefulness promoting agent' and is one of the drugs used in the treatment of narcolepsy, although it is not a stimulant in the traditional sense. It has also been linked to increased vigilance.
Legality
On August 3, 2004 ten days before the 2004 Summer Olympics, modafinil was added onto the list of prohibited substances by the World Anti-Doping Agency.
