Minnesota State University Mankato
Minnesota State University Mankato is a four year university and part of Minnesota State Colleges and Universities (MnSCU) located in Mankato, Minnesota. The school currently has an enrollment of approximately 14,000 students and 600 full time faculty members. The institution has the distinction of being the first public college in the United States to be headed by a woman, Julia Sears, in 1872.

Its athletic team is called the Mavericks. The men's and women's hockey teams compete in the WCHA, along with 4 other Minnesota based college teams. The school was known as Mankato State University prior to 1998, and is still often referred to by the old name or MNSU by many Minnesotans. Today it is know as MSU or Minnesota State Mankato by most in the community.
