~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ During the early 1960s, Martin became well-known to television audiences as the resident singer of topical songs on the weekly satire show, That Was the Week That Was. She was married to pop singer Ronnie Carroll, but they divorced. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ She is also known for playing Gladys Moon in thirteen fifty minute episodes of Moon And Son, a BBC television detective series created by Robert Banks Stewart and broadcast in 1992. John Michie played her son. The title was a pun on "Moon and Sun". Only one series was made. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ In recent years, Martin has become a familiar face on television once again, playing the part of another Mrs Moon, Daphne's mother Gertrude in the sitcom, Frasier. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
