Millennium (TV series)


 

Millennium was a grim, suspenseful television series, produced by the creators of The X-Files and set during the run-up to the new millennium (it premiered in 1996). It was cancelled in 1999, with a "final" episode wrapping up the storyline airing as The X-Files episode 7x05, "Millennium."

Characters

Frank Black -- A criminal profiler with an expert ability to see into the mindset of evildoers. Frank has seen the worst humanity has to offer and stands alone against the rising tide of violent crime.

Catherine Black -- Frank's wife. As a social worker, Catherine is no stranger to the darker side of humanity. Though she was initially supportive of her husband's work, she eventually came to resent the Millennium Group for their secrecy. Catherine is killed in a viral epidemic that claimed the life of 80 people.

Jordan Black -- Frank and Catherine's daughter.

Peter Watts -- Frank's primary contact with the Millennium Group. Initially a trusted friend of Frank, a darker side to him develops as the series progresses.

Emma Hollis -- A young FBI agent who becomes Frank's protege after he returns to Washington. She struggles to understand the criminal mind, as her sister was murdered by a man with no motive.

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Lara Means -- A Millennium Group member who shares visions similar to Frank's. She works with Frank on several cases, but eventually her visions become so intense that she is driven insane.

Lt. Robert Bletcher -- A homicide detective for the Seattle police. He was a longtime friend of Frank's and often enlisted him to consult on cases. Bletcher was killed by a demonic entity that fans have dubbed Legion.

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Geibelhouse -- Seattle detective with a sarcastic sense of humor and a cynical view of humanity. Initially he was Bletcher's partner, he becomes the head of Homicide after Bletcher's death.

Andy McClaren -- An FBI Assitant Director who worked with Frank when he was an agent. Upon the death of Catherine and Frank's departure from the Millennium Group, McClaren restablishes contact with Frank and gives him a chance to return to the FBI as a consultant.

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Barry Baldwin -- An FBI agent who works on the Critical Incidents Response team. He was once romantically involved with Emma Hollis. Approaches every case with a smarmy, ex-captain of the football team bravado. Killed by the Millennium Group in the series finale.

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Legion -- An embodiment of pure evil capable of assuming multiple forms. Its standard form was a devil that only Frank and Lara could see. It killed Lieutenant Bletcher, Millennium Group member Mike Atkins, and Frank's FBI therapist. It also taunted Emma Hollis by assuming her form and feigning suicide.

Brian Roedecker -- Computer specialist for the Millennium Group. Roedecker had a quirky sense of humor and was a big science fiction fan. He was fired from the Group when they started to become more cultic.
