Military of Japan
The military forces of Japan have had a number of different names over time.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
Prior to 1945, there were two separate services with no joint military command:
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
- Imperial Japanese Army
- Imperial Japanese Navy
- Japan Self-Defense Forces
- Military history of Japan
After World War II, these were both dissolved, and replaced after 1954 by:
