~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Born Mildred Rinker in Tekoa, Washington, Bailey sang with Paul Whiteman's band 1929 to 1933. In the mid to late 1930s, she made many recordings with her husband Red Norvo. Mildred married Red in 1933 and they divorced in 1938. She was equally good on ballads and rhythm numbers. She died in Poughkeepsie, New York of heart failure, which was chiefly due to her diabetes. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Mildred was the sister of Al Rinker, who also sang with Paul Whiteman. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
