Mike Gapes
Michael John Gapes (born 4 September 1952, Wanstead) is a Labour and Co-operative politician in the United Kingdom.

He has been member of Parliament for Ilford South since the 1992 election, first winning the seat by 402 votes. He has been Parliamentary Private Secretary in the Home Office and the Northern Ireland Office and a member of the Foreigh Affairs and Defence Select Committees.

During the 2005 election campaign, he was the target of some Muslim groups seeking to unseat him because of his alleged anti-Muslim bias. However, other Muslim's attacked these groups as "extremists", and they seem to have had little effect on his majority.
