Eruzione was born in Winthrop, Massachusetts. He attended Boston University, after which he joined the Olympic team. Eruzione, who played forward, was the captain of the Olympic team, scoring the winning goal against the Soviets (with over 10 minutes remaining to be played in the game) and helping the Americans win the Gold medal. While he never played in the NHL, he did play for two seasons in the International Hockey League, with the Toledo Goaldiggers. Eruzione then became a television broadcaster, grabbing the microphone at New York Rangers and New Jersey Devils games, and going on to comment at five Olympic Games, working for both ABC and NBC.
