Mick Jones (The Clash)
Mick Jones (born June 26, 1955) is a guitarist and singer, best known for his work with The Clash. (He should not be confused with the other Mick Jones who was the guitarist in the classic rock bands Spooky Tooth and Foreigner.)

Jones generally wrote the tunes, Strummer the lyrics. He was briefly in the band General Public. He later formed the bands Big Audio Dynamite and Big Audio Dynamite II, in which he was the lead singer. After the dissolution of Big Audio Dynamite II, he formed another band, Carbon/Silicon. The band is currently touring the United Kingdom in a number of benefit concerts and have recorded three albums: Sample This, Peace, Dope Factory Boogie and The Grand Delusion, although none have been released yet (as of February 2005).

He has become an occasional producer, and in late 2002/early 2003 was at the controls for the debut of London band The Libertines (their first album being Up The Bracket), whose Clash influence (as well as that of other quintessentially English bands like The Kinks) was clear. The CD was critically very well-received, in the UK and America, and Jones appeared to enjoy the success of his proteges, and stayed on to produce their second album, eponymously named The Libertines. He is now producing the debut album of Pete Doherty's new group Babyshambles.

Mick Jones is currently the lead signer and guitarist in the band Carbon/Silicon. Current members include former Generaton X bassist and long-time friend Tony James on rhythm guitar, William Blake on bass and Danny theRed on drums. Carbon/Silicon encourges their fans to share their music on P2P networks, and allow the audio and video taping of their shows. Their first song, "MPFree" is an anthem for P2P file sharing.
