Michelle McManus

Michelle McManus (born Glasgow, 8 May 1980) is a singer who found fame after winning Pop Idol 2 in the UK, with her subsequent single "All This Time" spending 3 weeks at number one in January 2004. Her album, The Meaning of Love, reached number 3, while the title track only reached number 16.

Winning Pop Idol 2

Michelle won Pop Idol 2 despite initial Pop Idol judge opinion that she was too overweight to be a pop star. It is rumoured that record producer Pete Waterman was so disappointed with the victory of Michelle that he left the studio in the subsequent advertisement break after the announcement was made. It is true that he was not present for the judges' opinion when the show returned, however he claimed that he was in the lavatory.
