Michal
Michal was a daughter of King Saul in the Old Testament, who loved and married David. Their story is recorded in the Book of Samuel. In I Samuel chapter 19, she chooses her husband over her father when Saul's messengers are searching for David in order to kill him, by sending David away secretly and pretending his bed is occupied. Whilst David is in hiding she is given by her father to Paltiel son of Laish, and David takes several other wives including Abigail and Bathsheba.

In 2 Samuel 6 she despises David because he dances partly unclothed in public before the Lord at a religious procession; this is linked in the narrative with her inability to have children for the rest of her life. While the entire house of Israel was involved in the event of bringing the ark of the covenant back to Jerusalem, Michal watched from the window. Furthermore, David would be succeeded by Solomon, a son of Bathsheba.
