Michael Waltrip


 

Michael Waltrip (born April 30, 1963 in Owensboro, Kentucky) is the younger brother of former NASCAR driver Darrell Waltrip. Michael drives the #15 NAPA Chevrolet car in NASCAR's Nextel Cup Series. He also drives the # 99 Aaron's "Dream Machine" car in NASCAR's Busch Series. Michael has 4 career Nextel Cup wins getting his first at the 2001 Daytona 500, Where Dale Earnhardt was killed in a wreck in the final lap, trying to block other drivers from getting to him and Dale Earnhardt Jr. As of 2004, Michael in Nextel cup has 610 starts, 4 wins, 35 top 5's, 116 top 10's, and 2 Bud Poles. In the Busch Series he has 233 starts, 11 wins, 58 top 5's, 98 top 10's, and 14 Bud Poles. In the Craftsman Truck Series he has 7 starts, 2 top 5's, and 3 top 10's.

In addition, Michael serves as a member of the "expert panel" on SPEED Channel's NASCAR Inside Nextel Cup series and he also often does fill-in work for Speed's coverage of the Craftsman Truck Series. He also appears in advertisements for NAPA, Domino's Pizza and Aaron's along with his brother, Darrell. He often is loyal to his sopnsors and calls his car by a list of different sponsors from time to time.
