Michael Schoeffling

Actor Michael Schoeffling (born 1960 in Pennsylvania) began his career in the mid-1980s as a GQ fashion model. He went on to co-star in movies such as Sixteen Candles and Vision Quest. Michael studied at the Lee Strasberg Institute. Schoeffling is married with two children and has mostly dropped out of acting. He now runs his own business, a shop in Pennsylvania that produces hand-crafted furniture.

While in high school, Schoeffling became an accomplished amateur wrestler medalling in national and international tournmanents in his age group. His wrestling skill is shown as Cooch in Vision Quest where he wrestles Matthew Modine, his best friend in the movie.

Schoeffling's character in Sixteen Candles, Jake Ryan, is legendary among fans of all ages. The Washington Post ran an article titled, "Real Men Can't Hold a Match to Jake Ryan of Sixteen Candles" on Valentine's Day, 2004. Jennifer Love Hewitt declared to Rolling Stone magazine in 2002 that "My whole life, I've been waiting for Jake Ryan . . . to come and get me."
