' begins with a very much alive Laurie Strode, who changed her name to Keri Tate and became a teacher at a respected private school in Northern California. Myers discovered her whereabouts, and again attempted to kill her and her 17 year old son. After a brutal fight Myers was decapitated by Laurie. This was supposed to be the end of the Halloween series, but (as of 2005) there has been one further sequel with at least one more planned.

' reveals that the man Laurie killed was an ambulance driver whom Myers had dressed as himself. Laurie was committed to a mental institution shortly after these events. Myers eventually managed to break into the institution and murdered her.

Myers then returned to his home in Haddonfield. He lived in a section of tunnels below the house, where he presumably had lived since the events of the first two films in the series. Coincidentally, after Laurie's murder, the supposedly abandoned house was being used as the setting for a reality show where six contestants would spend Halloween night in the infamous home. Myers hunted down and killed many of the contestants and crew members. The producer of series, along with a resourceful young college student managed to electrocute Myers, stopping his rampage. Myers survived the assault, however, and reawakened in the morgue.
