Michael Keaton

Michael Keaton was born on September 9 or September 5, 1951 in the Pittsburgh suburb of Coraopolis, Pennsylvania. He is an American actor.

Keaton was born in an Irish Catholic family of 7 children.

Keaton's real name is Michael John Douglas, but he could not use his real last name professionally because the Screen Actors Guild prohibits two actors from using the same name, and his name would have conflicted with those of Mike Douglas or Michael Douglas. He picked "Keaton" after actress Diane Keaton.

Keaton became interested in acting while living in Pittsburgh while working as a crew member on Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood and other odd jobs including ice cream truck driver. He headed out west with the intention of doing stand up comedy and joined the Second City Los Angeles. Between small roles, Keaton got his big break in Ron Howard's Night Shift, playing a slightly obnoxious morgue attendant running a brothel with Henry Winkler.

Keaton is known for his work in films such as Beetlejuice, and Multiplicity. He was also a controversial casting choice for the title role in Batman. Comic book fan anger was such that an impromptu teaser trailer had to be released to address the complaints. The marketing move was successful and Keaton is now seen as one of the best actors to have played the role.
