Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer or MGM, was, until 2005, a media company, involved primarily in the production and distribution of cinema and television programs. The company was acquired by a partnership led by Sony and Comcast Corporation for $US2.9 billion. The sale was completed on April 8, 2005.
