Method (software engineering)

Accordingly to IEEE, a method is a process or procedure used in the engineering of a product or performing a service.

The word is many time used as sinonymous to methodology, however one could argue that a method is a recipe, s sequence of steps, while a methodology implies in a body of theories, practices and a philosophy of use.
