According to Spice Girls lore, she is considered to be the most talented after Mel C for her rapping and R&B abilities. Her first solo album, Hot, was released in 2000, and her second, L.A. State of Mind, in 2005. After her debut album failed to sell as well as expected, Melanie was dropped by Virgin Records and began to focus on TV presenting and acting work rather than music. She presented the TV shows "Pure Naughty" (1999), "This Is My Moment" (2001) and the one-off special "Melanie B: Voodoo Princess" (2002). She also starred in the first season of sitcom "Burn It" (2003) and the movies "LD 50 Lethal Dose" (2003), "The Seat Filler" (2004) and the forthcoming "Telling Lies" (2005). Additionally, Melanie played Mimi in Rent on Broadway during 2004.
